An exam handbook is available on our public website, listing the complete set of NSE 8 practical exam topics for both Core and Elective exam modules. It can be accessed in the “FCX – NSE 8 Practical Examination" section.
The NSE 8 exams will be based on the current firmware version, available on our support site. Firmware versions used on the exam are listed in the handbook. Candidates should be prepared to configure a network environment using this latest firmware, including knowledge of up to two major releases released after the exam's public launch.

About the base firmware versions:
- The FCX certification program will have base firmware versions for all the solutions. The program will be adaptable to support up to two additional major releases during the life of the exam.
- The expert candidate’s knowledge of Fortinet features, technologies, and solutions should extend beyond a single OS version.
The NSE 8 practical exams include troubleshooting tasks (break/fix). If you configure any required task incorrectly, you'll likely need to troubleshoot your setup. While all non-Fortinet solutions are pre-configured, some tasks may require you to modify or update the default configurations. As an expert, you should be capable of configuring or troubleshooting any third-party solutions integrated with Fortinet’s technology.
