What form of identification is accepted by Pearson VUE?

You can find the details of acceptable forms of ID either during your exam registration process or in the test appointment confirmation email from Pearson VUE.


According to Pearson VUE ID requirements, the government-issued identification card must be a  plastic/PVC hard copy, and all other forms of IDs such as letter, paper, and digital formats are not accepted. 


Identification Requirements:

  • All IDs must be valid, unexpired, government-issued originals, photocopies are not accepted
  • The ID must display the test-taker's name, signature, and a recent recognizable photo
  • The first and last name on the ID must match the name used to register for the exam


Valid ID forms accepted by Pearson VUE:

  • International travel passport
  • Driver's license
  • Non-U.S. Military ID (including spouse and dependents)
  • Identification card (national, state, province)
  • Registration card (green card, permanent residence, visa)


 Unacceptable forms of ID:

  • Renewal forms with expired IDs, government-issued name change documents accompanied by government ID
  • Restricted IDs, such as IDs that are prohibited by law from being photographed, photocopied, or digitized
  • Digital IDs
  • IDs from countries where OnVUE delivery is restricted: North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Sudan, Iran, and the Sevastopol/Crimea region of Ukraine

If your identification is not accepted as being valid, you will not be allowed to start your exam and you are not likely to receive a refund.
